15.608 Fish and Wildlife Management: Section 119 of the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, allows the Secretary of the Interior to enter into cooperative agreements with Alaska Native organizations to conserve marine mammals and provide co-management of subsistence use by Alaska Natives. Specific objectives of this program include: 1. Support, develop and maintain marine mammal Co-management structures for Pacific walruses in Alaska. 2. Facilitate dialog between subsistence walrus hunters and management agencies regarding walrus conservation and management issues. 3. Support the participation of Alaska Natives in management activities for Pacific walruses in Alaska.
