Organizations which received a 2006 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Grant are eligible to apply for a 2007 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Continuation Grant. A single organization may submit the same application only once.
Grant Description
The purpose of the grants is to mobilize more Americans to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday as a day of service in communities, to encourage people who do serve on this Holiday to make a long-term commitment to community service, and to bring people together around the common focus of service to others. The grants will be awarded to "intermediary" applicants who will, through subgrants or direct funding, plan and carry out direct service activities on the federal holiday honoring the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 2007 (January 15, 2007.
