- Additional Information on Eligibility
- Assistance will be provided only to International Medical Corps (IMC). The IMC is the only organization in Afghanistan qualified to collaborate with the Office of Global Health Affairs at this time. IMC is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization, exceptionally well-qualified with a vast network of health facilities staffed by a dedicated cadre of health care professionals. Within the Rabia Balkhi Hospital, Kabul, Afghanistan, IMC has established a strong foundation for training activities targeting RBH clinical staff, including physicians, nurses and midwives and has provided such training since 2003. Given the time it takes to establish relationships with RBH administrative leadership and clinical staff, programmatic linkages across RBH, as well as a knowledge base regarding RBH health care delivery processes, in order to identify key gaps in training as well as adapt to align to the provision of in-hospital training by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services clinical and public health experts, no other institution has the capacity and expertise to accomplish these tasks at the present time. IMC is uniquely qualified to perform these services, based on past and current performance, and a well-established rapport with host-country nationals, especially the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), USAID, and other Afghan government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. There is no other organization with this history and capability.
