2015 Survey of Law Enforcement Personnel in Schools (SLEPS): The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is pleased to announce that it is seeking an applicant to conduct a new data collection focused on the activities, roles, and responsibilities of law enforcement agencies and personnel who have responsibilities for interacting with and working in K12 public schools. The tasks will require instrument design, a field test of that design, and a data collection that includes a nationally represented sample of law enforcement personnel working in schools. Under section 302 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, BJS is authorized to make grants to, or enter into cooperative agreements or contracts with public agencies, institutions of higher education, private organizations, or private individuals for purposes of collecting and analyzing criminal justice statistics.

- Eligible applicants are national, regional, state, or local public and private entities, including for-profit (commercial) and nonprofit organizations (including tribal nonprofit or for-profit organizations), faith-based and community organizations, institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education), federally recognized Indian tribal governments as determined by the Secretary of the Interior, and units of local government that support initiatives to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system. For-profit organizations must agree to forgo any profit or management fee.
