Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series (U13): Purpose. This announcement solicits NICHD Cooperative Agreement Conference (U13) applications to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, and symposia. The objectives of these meetings will be to establish academic-community partnerships, identify community-research priorities, and develop long-term collaborative agendas. Areas of focus for these partnerships may include one or more of the following community-health issues infant mortality; sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS); violence prevention; techniques for outreach and information dissemination; childhood, adolescent, and/or adult obesity; health literacy; uterine fibroid tumors; and pediatric and maternal HIV/AIDS prevention. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Cooperative Agreement Conference (U13) grant award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Since the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the number of mechanisms, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received. Although the financial plans of the NICHD provide support for this program, awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
