Advanced Turbine Components for Combined Cycle and Supercritical CO2 Based Power Cycle Applications: The Clean Coal Research Program is pursuing research, development, and demonstration to decrease the cost of electricity and capture costs and increase base power-plant efficiency, thereby reducing the amount of carbon dioxide that has to be capured and stored per unit of electricity generated. The Carbon Capture Research Program has recently established new goals for coal power with carbon capture. The objective of this funding opportunity announcement is to solicit and competitively award applied research, development, and demonstration projects targeting innovative turbomachinery components for both advanced combustion turbines in combined cycle applications capable of 65 percent or greater combined cycle efficiency and supercritical carbon dioxide based power cycles that are directly or indirectly heated in fossil fuel applications.
