Advancing National Public Health Institutes Globally: The International Association of National Public Health Institutes was chartered in 2006 and is the only global alliance of public health leaders and partners dedicated to promoting the work and development of national public health institutes (NPHIs). Strong NPHIs and collaboration among NPHIs are vital for national and global public health and health security. With a secretariat shared among the NPHIs in Netherlands, France and Emory University in Atlanta, IANPHI collaborates with 110 members from 93 countries (and growing), benefiting more than 5 billion people on 6 continents. IANPHI is an innovative group of public health leaders and is the only member organization with the mission and capacity to provide technical assistance to create a national focus for public health activities. IANPHI's technical support provides programmatic expertise that assists countries in visioning how a public health institute will transform systems and helps determine strategic direction for improving public health capacity through service, research and training, in order to improve the health of populations and reduce health disparities. IANPHI is a unique member organization and has demonstrated expertise in providing technical support to developing NPHIs.
