Advancing Toxicokinetics For Efficient And Robust Chemical Evaluations: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is seeking applications proposing to advance the development of chemical toxicokinetic tools and approaches for broader applicability during chemical evaluations, with an emphasis on their application within new approach methodology (NAM) frameworks. Toxicokinetics describes the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of chemicals and their metabolites by the body, and as such provides a framework for extrapolating in vivo doses of concern from in vitro-derived concentrations that cause perturbations at the cellular or molecular level. The incorporation of new methods, tools and approaches can simultaneously improve predictivity, reduce uncertainty and build confidence in the successful application of such extrapolations.
