Additional Information on Eligibility
Eligible applicants are Indian tribes. An Indian tribe is defined as follows: ?A federally-recognized Indian Tribe, band, nation or other organized group or community, including any Native village, Regional Corporation, or Village Corporation, as defined under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (43 U.S.C. ? 1602), that the United States Government determines is eligible for special programs and services provided under federal law to Indians because of their status as Indians. Indian Tribes also include any tribal organization controlled, sanctioned, or chartered by one of the entities described above.?
Grant Description
The Corporation for National and Community Service (hereinafter the ?Corporation??) announces the availability of fiscal year 2005 funds to award AmeriCorps*Indian Tribe program grants to eligible organizations. The Corporation will make awards covering a period not to exceed one year with a potential for an additional two years of funding, contingent upon satisfactory performance, the availability of funds through appropriations, and other criteria established in the grant guidelines and award agreement. These funds are available under authority provided in 45 CFR part 2521 and the Omnibus Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2005. NOTE: Publication of this announcement does not obligate the Corporation to award any specific number of grants or to obligate the entire amount of funds available, or any part thereof, for grants under the AmeriCorps*Indian Tribe program.
