Analysis of the Criminal Justice Systems Data Architecture: The purpose of the National Institute of Justice Research, Evaluation, and Development Project Grants program is to encourage and support research, development, and evaluation to improve criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for research to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the elements of the criminal justice system's data architecture. This research will provide a clear picture of how information is generated and used, how it flows through the system from beginning to end, and how the delivery of information may be improved. Authorizing Legislation: Title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (sections 201 and 202); Homeland Security Act of 2002 (section 232).
