YOU MUST READ THE ENTIRE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT DOCUMENT FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, EVALUATION CRITERIA AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO PREPARE AN APPLICATION UNDER A SPECIFIC AREA OF INTEREST. Please scroll to the bottom of this page to access the Funding Opportunity Announcement. Area of Interest 3: SOLID SORBENTS Solid particles can be used to capture CO2 from flue gas through chemical absorption, physical adsorption, or a combination of the two effects. Possible configurations for contacting the flue gas with the solid particles include fixed, moving, and fluidized beds. Key technical challenges to sorbent based systems for capturing CO2 from coal-fired power plants include: (1) large flue gas volume; (2) relatively low CO2 concentration; (3) flue gas contaminants; and (4) high parasitic power demand for sorbent recovery.
