BJA FY 13 National Center for Campus Public Safety: This FY 2013 competitive announcement focuses on the creation and management of the National Center for Campus Public Safety (National Center) to support the field, foster collaboration, facilitate information sharing, and support policy development, model practices, operations, and research that will enhance the safety of the nation's institutions of higher education. The National Center will be a resource for campus police chiefs, directors of public safety, emergency managers, and key campus safety stakeholders. The National Center will be a catalyst that brings together all forms of campus public safety, professional associations, advocacy organizations, community leaders, and others to improve and expand services to those who are charged with providing a safe environment on the campuses of the nation's colleges and universities. The National Center will work closely with DOJ to: 1. Identify and prioritize the needs of the field and to reach out to key stakeholders and identify their role in The Center. 2. Serve as the "one-stop shop" for campus public safety. 3. Connect existing federal and non-federal resources with the needs of constituents. 4. Connect major campus public safety entities with one another, and with federal agencies to facilitate collaboration and coordination around issues of campus public safety. 5.
