- Grant Description
- To provide baseline environmental data on giant kangaroo rat habitat in the Ciervo-Panoche Natural Area as a prerequisite for recovery of the species. Combine trapping and modeling data to estimate total population size and map population concentrations. Principle benefit is that the data from this study will provide the baseline data for a funded species management plan for the Ciervo-Panoche Natural Area which is a required recovery task for downlisting the giant kangaroo rat. Recovering and delisting this species will provide widespread economic relief due the removal of endangered species restrictions, and also serves the direct public interest of preventing the extinction of an endangered species.
