BLM CA Piedras Blancas Light Station Interpretation and Outreach: The recipient and BLM will work together to manage interpretive and outreach programs conducted in association with the Piedras Blancas Light Station. Including provision for on-site services including the operation of the interpretive center and ⿿gift shop⿝, and sponsorship of volunteers to provide education and interpretive programs. The recipient will collaborate on the management of the Light Station to facilitate restoration work on the historic structures and landscape to enhance the interpretation and education program. The recipient will provide volunteers as tour guides, tour assistants, trail stewards, and gift shop workers. The following are objectives laid out in the 2010 Piedras Blancas Light Station Interpretive plan includes but limited to: Increase public knowledge and appreciation for the BLM and their programs including the California Coastal National Monument. Increase public knowledge of the history of the Piedras Blancas Light Station Increase public knowledge of wildlife viewing etiquette and principles of resource stewardship. Monitor success of interpretive programs through the use of visitor surveys. Monitor visitation capacity to protect prehistoric, cultural and natural resources.
