BLM-MT, Facilitation of Tribal Workshops, Montana State Office: Background: Federal laws, executive orders and policy direct agencies to consult and coordinate with tribal governments and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers (THPOs). This Cooperative Agreement will enable all the tribal THPOs to come together to address issues that are important to manage public lands. The information shared will improve land management strategies, which will result in a healthier landscape, enrich the public's experience on public lands and provide opportunities to educate the public about our nation's shared history.
Objectives: To hold public meetings in order to share information between tribes, BLM and the public, and bring together THPOs to address important issues critical to the management of public lands. A designated note taker will capture the information provided at the meetings and will share the meeting notes with all the participants.
The recipient will be responsible for facilitating these meetings. In addition, they will provide the THPOs with lodging and per diem costs, secure the meeting rooms, and provide all necessary supplies.
Public Benefit: The information shared at these meetings will enlighten and educate the public about history, cultural views and depth of use of our common landscape.
