BLM OR-WA Botanical Training and Assistance for Technical Plant Groups in Oregon and Idaho: The BLM has historically supported partners doing educational outreach and workshops on technical plant groups and wishes to continue this support with an organization that specializes in the taxonomy of species including grasses, sedges, rushes, Salix, Lomatiums, Paintbrushes (Plantaginaceae) and other difficult groups, and that has the technical expertise to conduct outreach, produce field guides, identification keys, habitat and species assessments, and taxonomic treatments.
The objective of this agreement is to conduct educational outreach and workshops for technical plant groups in Oregon, Washington and Idaho and to support the development of field guides/keys in order to raise the botanical skills and knowledge of the public, Universities, and Federal and State Agency Botanists in the area of technical plant groups. The program is also to provide information on taxonomic treatments for regional and continent-wide floras such as the Flora of North America and the Oregon Flora Project, and will conduct taxonomic studies on difficult or newly described species, and habitat assessments of unique habitats that support these technical plant groups.
