- Grant Description
- The principle purpose of this program is to allow for increased public participation in natural resource decisions on public lands through collaborative opportunities and enhanced facilitation of complex natural resource issues and challenges. The Oregon/Washington BLM is exploring new approaches to traditional natural resource challenges. The purpose of this partnership is to address natural resources policy challenges and opportunities through engaging national and local acknowledged expertise and third party neutral services. In response, the Oregon/Washington Bureau of Land Management (OR/WA BLM) articulated a long-term goal for forest planning: to craft a policy framework for a sustainable approach to BLM land management, designed to achieve conservation and socioeconomic goals. Specifically, OR/WA BLM seeks to: 1. Bring greater certainty and stability to the management of forested BLM lands; 2. Integrate federal decision making to improve policy implementation; and 3. Further paths of communication and working relationships among parties.
