BLM OR/WA - Public Awareness Campaign, Education and Outreach, Salem District, Oregon: The BLM has partnered with The Metro (The Oregon Zoo) for the last 15 years for the purpose of enhancing public education opportunities and fostering a greater appreciation of public lands and their resources through a variety of programs and exhibits under the umbrella of "The Great Northwest Project." Specifically, the BLM has helped sponsor and deliver the Urban Nature Overnights (UNO) and Zoo Animal Presenters (ZAP) Programs, introducing underserved youth to the outdoors and providing meaningful employment and leadership training to underserved, at-risk teens.
