- Grant Description
- The proposed project can provide an opportunity for a organization to expand opportunities for public eduction regarding cultural resources in the GSENM area. BLM would like to work cooperatively with an organization to assist in carrying out the partners mission, but also assist GSENM with a variety of cultural resource tasks, including archaeological inventory, analysis, and reporting, as well as the collection and processing of oral histories, public educational and interpretive presentations and programs, preparation of archaeological historical publications, site stabilization, and other related tasks to be identified as necessary. This may entail pedestrian inventory of selected areas of the Moument where comprehensive cultural resource inventory is lacking in an effort to document and assess impacts to prehistoric and historic sites and to gather base line data on site types and distributions. The result will be a much better understanding of the resources and their current condition, and allow for better development of management practices designed to protect at-risk resources, and provide information for public interpretation and educational experiences. This project is associated with the Basic Understanding of GSENM resources. Components of this project include collection of base line cultural resource information regarding site locations, site types, and recreational impacts, as well as the monitoring of cultural resource sites.
