BLM Washington Office Intern: BLM has historically provided youth from all backgrounds with job training, natural and cultural resource education, and the opportunity to learn about the principles and practices of land management and conservation. These efforts have been given added emphasis by the Departmental Strategic Plan (2011-2016), which includes as part of its vision a "highly skilled workforce that reflects the diversity of the Nation." By working through partners to engage interns with a broad array of skills, the BLM can meet current land management objectives, workforce planning needs, and help to create the "next generation of conservation leaders."
