Baseline Invasive Species Community Mapping at Lower Klamath and Tulelake NWRs: The objectives of this Single Source CESU award will be to 1) produce a standard operating protocol (SOP; following USFWS standards)for processing land cover data at Lower Klamath NWR that could be replicated in future years to compare land cover changes, 2) optimize classification accuracy by evaluating mapping error (using error matrices, kappa coefficients, or similar evaluation methods) in order to select the preferred classification system, and 3) produce a final land cover map that can be used to develop a strategy for invasive species treatment(s) on the refuge. The refuge further proposes to develop a method/protocol (or incorporate an existing protocol), in partnership with the Region 8 Inventory & Monitoring Program for geospatially ⿿capturing⿝ and evaluating the efficacy of multiple invasive species management techniques. This award is entered into under the authority of Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act of 1958, 16 U.S.C.661.
