Behavioral Regulation Mechanisms of Alcohol Dependence and Related Phenotypes (R01): Purpose. This FOA issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), encourages Research Project grants (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to examine the mechanisms of behavioral regulation contributing to the behavioral characteristics of alcohol dependence. Mechanism of Support.
