Botanically Sophisticated Ecological Restoration and Community Involvement: This agreement represents an opportunity to enter a cooperative agreement to train and employ workers in botanically sophisticated ecological restoration design, implementation, and community involvement to benefit US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lands in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. The agreement will provide opportunities for local primary and secondary school students to produce and install native plant materials in USACE restoration sites participating in stewardship of local habitats and gaining knowledge and appreciation of the environment. USACE stewards natural resources by managing and restoring habitat and contributing to the recovery of endangered species. The recipient of the cooperative agreement would collaborate in these activities (such as seed collection, exotic species management, plant propagation and other related tasks) while providing opportunities for environmental education and natural resource management training to young professionals, primary schools, and other community members. The cooperative agreement will be awarded pursuant to 33 USC 2339(a) - Assistance Programs. A cooperative agreement may be implemented under this provision with non-Federal public and nonprofit entities for services relating to natural resource conservation. The preferred recipient of this cooperative agreement is a non-Federal or nonprofit organization whose goals substantially overlap the Environmental Stewardship mission of USACE. The recipient will provide education and training to young professionals, students, and community members while performing ecological restoration tasks at USACE Projects in Lane County.
