Grant Description
DARPA seeks strong, responsive proposals from well-qualified sources for a new Human Language Technology (HLT) research and development program called Broad Operational Language Translation (BOLT). The goal of the BOLT program is to create technology capable of translating multiple foreign languages in all genres, retrieve information from the translated material, and enable bilingual communication via speech or text. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, devices, or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice.
