Additional Information on Eligibility: Qualified applicants may be U.S. private voluntary organizations (U.S. PVOs) and/or U.S. or non-U.S. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations. Faith-based and community organizations are also eligible for award. In support of the Agencys interest in fostering a larger assistance base and expanding the number and sustainability of development partners, USAID encourages applications from potential new partners.
Grant Description: The intent of the program is to enable the NGO sector to form a broad public support base by making transparency and improvement of the sectors infrastructure a central part of its agenda. Under this program, USAID expects to receive applications seeking to improve the third sectors transparency and accountability, develop self-regulation mechanisms, strengthen the NGO sectors legitimacy and broaden its linkages to the constituencies, facilitate the articulation of its strategic policies, encourage research into and analysis of the sector to obtain comprehensive sector-specific data with which to educate and influence various stakeholders, provide innovative solutions to sectors long-term concerns such as resource mobilization, organizational development, and others.
