California HIV/Autoimmune Demonstration Project: The Social Security Administration requests an application from the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) for FY 2006 funding for a cooperative agreement in support of a demonstration project targeted toward persons with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), immune and/or autoimmune (AI) disorders. This cooperative agreement will include the provision of employment support services and service coordination. Under a separate Request for Proposals, SSA awarded a contract for Project implementation and established an overall project manager referred to as the CA HIV/AI contractor. Employment support services are one component of the interventions being tested as part of the larger demonstration project. Employment support services will include:. assessment of the individuals employment support needs,. development of an appropriate Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) for each participant,. service coordination to ensure that the individual has access to the services outlined in the IPE, and . case monitoring to follow the participants efforts at securing gainful employment.Section 1110 of the Social Security Act authorizes the cooperative agreement funding described in this announcement. Section 234 of the Social Security Act describes the research authority.
