Challenge Grants FY 2005: CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE [CFDA No. 94.007] Challenge Grants FY 2005; Notice of Cancellation Thursday, September 22, 2005 SUMMARY: On July 22, 2005, the Corporation for National and Community Service published a Notice of Funds Availability on Grants.gov and our web site inviting applications for new awards for the FY 2005 Challenge Grant Program. On August 23, 2005 and August 29, 2005 modifications were published on Grants.gov extending the grant application deadline to September 27, 2005. The purpose of this notice is to advise potential applicants that this competition has been cancelled. A new and slightly modified Challenge Grant funding opportunity will be posted by October 3, 2005. In light of the devastating suffering and losses caused by Hurricane Katrina and anticipation of further devastation from Hurricane Rita, the Corporation is shifting its focus for the Challenge Grant program. In the upcoming competition, we anticipate focusing on applications that propose to recruit baby boomers as volunteers to meet human needs created by the storms. In the near future, a new Challenge Grant funding opportunity will be posted on Grants.gov and the Corporations web site. Applicants that have submitted or were planning to submit an application for the previous competition are encouraged to submit an application for the Challenge Grant competition when it is announced.
