Channeling Men's Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response (CHAMPION): The purpose of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to solicit applications from organizations interested in working with the United States Agency for International Development in Tanzania (USAID/Tanzania) to slow and prevent new HIV infections in Tanzania by focusing on men and their roles, attitudes and behavior. The goals of the CHAMPION project (Channeling Mens Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response) are to: 1) Promote partner reduction and fidelity and reduce high-risk behaviors. 2) Promote supportive social norms that discourage multiple partnering, violence, and sexual coercion. 3) Promote positive health-seeking behavior by men, including male participation in health services and in the national HIV/AIDS response. The CHAMPION project will work with men and their social networks, community leaders and other social influential, health service providers, policy makers and other stakeholders in order to identify factors (barriers and facilitators) that influence multiple partnering and other high-risk behaviors in Tanzania, and implement activities that facilitate more accurate risk perceptions among men and engage men and communities in promoting fidelity and positive gender norms. A key CHAMPION strategy is the creation of an enabling environment at the policy, community and individual levels.
