Collaboration for Improving and Promoting Standardized Cancer Staging Using the Collaborative Stage Data Collection System: The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to emphasize the importance of coordination and collaboration across agencies, partners, and organizations to: - improve standardized staging for use in cancer surveillance; - support and simplify the evaluation, maintenance, and updating of cancer staging applications; and - support enhancement of attributes that decrease the system's complexity.

Eligibility Information Eligible Applicants: - American Indian/Alaska Native tribal governments (federally recognized or state-recognized) - American Indian/Alaska native tribally designated organizations - Alaska Native health corporations - Colleges - Community-based organizations - Faith-based organizations - For-profit organizations (other than small business) - Hospitals - Nonprofit with 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education) - Nonprofit without 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education) - Political subdivisions of States (in consultation with States) - Research institutions (that will perform activities deemed as non-research) - Small, minority, and women-owned businesses - State and local governments or their Bona Fide Agents (this includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianna Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau) . - Tribal epidemiology centers - Universities - Urban Indian health organizations 2. Special Eligibility Requirements: - Applicants must provide documentation of prior experience in developing, monitoring, updating, and maintaining the Collaborative Stage Data Collection System (CS). - Applicant must provide documentation of prior experience in providing overall management and coordination of CS activities for a nationwide organizational infrastructure, at a minimum of 25 states/territories. - Applicant must provide documentation demonstrating the capacity to partner with and bring together organizations, agencies, and stakeholders from across the country for a national CS governance committee comprised of all cancer surveillance standards-setting agencies and others with expert-level knowledge of current and past AJCC TNM and Summary Stage cancer staging systems and of hospital and central cancer registry operations and standards.
