Collaborative Management and Implementation of Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and Chesapeake Gateways, Parks and Sites Programs and Projects: This announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service's intention to award financial assistance for the following project activities without competition. Specifically, the Conservancy agrees to: 1. Plan, develop and carry out, in concert with the NPS, programs and projects to implement the Captain John Smith Chesapeake NHT comprehensive management plan and related segment, site, interpretive and conservation plans. 2. Develop, in concert with the NPS, an integrated annual work plan of programs, projects and activities aligned with advancing the shared vision, mission, goals and objectives for the Trail and Gateways. 3. Build partnerships with private sector, local organizations and communities, and public agencies, in cooperation with the NPS, to interpret, educate, conduct public outreach, provide public relations, and create economic value that advance the goals of the Trail and Gateways. 4. Develop and carry out, in concert with NPS, communications and outreach strategies and programs to expand public awareness and increase use of the Trail, Gateways and Chesapeake watershed visitor destinations. 5. Document priority landscapes, sites and related resources which sustain visitor experiences along the Trail, especially those important to American Indian tribes. 6. In coordination with the NPS, and consistent with the Trail comprehensive management plan, assist with the planning and protection of selected public access and trail resource priorities associated with the Trail. 7. Support collaborative conservation through the Chesapeake Conservation Partnership, expanding resources for stewardship in the region. 8. Seek and develop private funding, including the development of revenue generating enterprises, for implementing the shared vision, mission, goals, objectives and programs of the Trail and Gateways. 9. Build a network of volunteers for adding capacity to Conservancy and NPS efforts to carry out programs and projects.
