Collaborative Research on Tinnitus (R01): -This Request for Applications (RFA) will utilize the R01 grant mechanism only. -The purpose of this RFA is to promote multidisciplinary collaborative research teams to investigate tinnitus, and not research that consists of only one discipline. Applications that do not demonstrate a collaborative approach across two or more disciplines are not being solicited under this RFA and will be returned. -The participating organizations intend to commit a total of $1,500,000 to this RFA for payment of applications responsive to this announcement; $750,000 in FY07 and $750,000 in FY08 (because of the requirement for a change from submission of paper applications to electronic submission of applications, a separate Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will be issued at a later time; the anticipated second receipt date is October 22, 2007). While the ODS and NIDCR are not specifically setting aside funds for this initiative, they have expressed a willingness to co-fund relevant meritorious applications and, in the case of NIDCR, to take assignment on applications when appropriate (see below for more information). Awards issued under this RFA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of meritorious applications.
