College Creek Inlet Hydrological Study to develop safety alternative: Task 1: Shoreline Digitizing, Shoreline Change, and Bathymetric SurveyFor this task, the 2017 shoreline will be digitized and the rates of change calculated for several time periods. It will include the inlet, nearshore channel, and sandbar. Shorelines, shoreline change data, and bathymetric data will be available in ArcGIS format with appropriate metadata. Task 2: Numerical ModelingTo understand the cause of the strong rip current and to investigate the approach to change this dynamic condition, a numerical model will simulate the currents in this region under different tide and freshwater discharge conditions. Once the model is calibrated, three scenarios testing different channel configurations will be created and the changes in flow conditions will be determined. Task 3: ReportingProgress reports will be provided as draft and final reports. VIMS will address NPS' comments and revise the complete draft report. The final report will be digital in Adobe Acrobat format.
