Combustion and Thermal Transport Processes Research at the International Space Station to Benefit Life on Earth (NSF-ISS): The Division of Chemical, Bioengineering and Environmental Transport (CBET) in the Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation (NSF) is partnering with The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) to solicit research projects in the general field of combustion and thermal transport processes that can utilize the International Space Station (ISS) National Lab to conduct research that will benefit life on Earth. U.S. entities including academic investigators, non-profit independent research labs and academic-commercial teams are eligible to apply.

- *Who May Submit Proposals: Proposals may only be submitted by the following: -For-profit organizations: U.S. commercial organizations, especially small businesses with strong capabilities in scientific or engineering research or education. -Non-profit, non-academic organizations: Independent museums, observatories, research labs, professional societies and similar organizations in the U.S. associated with educational or research activities. -Universities and Colleges - Universities and two- and four-year colleges (including community colleges) accredited in, and having a campus located in, the US acting on behalf of their faculty members. Such organizations also are referred to as academic institutions. - GOALI proposals, where academe and industry partner on a research project, are encouraged (see GOALI proposal requirements in the <a href="https://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf17001">PAPPG</a>and in Section V.A. of this solicitation) CASIS strongly encourages all potential proposers to consider industry collaboration. *Who May Serve as PI: The PI(s) must be eligible to submit NSF proposals, as described in the <a href="https://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf17001">PAPPG</a>.
