- Also- community groups, and faith-based organizations with experience in applied research, community policing, and developing products for a national audience. Proposals must be responsive to the solicitation's stated goal of developing a toolkit for a national audience to institutionalize community policing. Applicants must also demonstrate their understanding and experience with applied research methods as well as with resource/product development and marketing. Initiatives that benefit only one, or a limited number of law enforcement entities, will not be considered. The purpose of the solicitation is to develop the specific identified deliverables and is not intended to fund specific individual initiatives or programs of local law enforcement agencies.

- The COPS Office is pleased to announce the availability of funding under the FY2008 COPS Community Policing Development Program to develop a Community Policing Institutionalization Toolkit. $600,000 in federal funds is available to develop and pilot test a community policing institutionalization toolkit consisting of multiple guidebooks that can be used to increase the capacity of law enforcement agencies to implement and sustain community policing efforts. The toolkit should include a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote both the toolkit and the general community policing concepts advanced by the toolkit. One award will be made under this program. To be considered for funding, completed applications must be received by the COPS Office no later than July 24, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
