Grant Description
NOTE: Please read the Master Funding Opportunity Announcement for complete evaluation criteria and instructions on how to prepare your application. https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/7dd24f d3b334d11985256f32005c0821?OpenDocument Applications which fit the following description should be submitted under this funding opportunity title of Computational Chemistry in Support of Hydrogen from Coal (DE-PS26-05NT42244-09). Computational chemistry has the potential to uncover new reaction mechanisms and unique interactions between materials and species of interest to the production of hydrogen from coal. These interactions may lead to materials that allow higher hydrogen storage, materials that have higher fluxes in hydrogen separation, or materials that are resistant to syngas impurities. The new reaction mechanisms may lead to novel pathways for hydrogen production. Grant applications are sought to develop computational chemistry models that support hydrogen production, separation, and storage. In addition, these projects should identify experiments that will validate the models and new areas of research uncovered by the models.
