Conduct topographic surveys of dunes and beaches on Edwin B. Forsythe NWR; Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief: This is an announcement for issuing a single source financial assistance award to Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Coastal Research Center (CRC). This announcement is for notification purposes only. The intent of the award is to conduct topographic surveys of dunes and beaches on Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Additionally, waterbird food assessments will be conducted. The CRC will (A) conduct two, ground-based topographic light detection and ranging (LiDAR) surveys, one each during spring 2014 and 2015 on Holgate and Little Beach Island units of the refuge; (B) work with the University of Delaware UDel) to analyze sediment samples collected by refuge staff at Holgate and Little Beach Island in 2014 and 2015 to measure food availability for the refuge¿s nesting waterbirds, such as the piping plover, American oystercatcher, and least terns; and (C) provide written reports detailing the results of all work. This project is authorized by the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act of 2013, Public Law 113-2.
