- CDC's Procurement and Grants Office has published a funding opportunity announcement entitled "Conducting Public Health Research in Kenya (U01)." Approximately $20,250,000 will be available in fiscal year 2010 to fund one award. The purpose of this FOA is to conduct field and laboratory research on important human infectious diseases, with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Tuberculosis, Influenza and other diseases with pandemic potential as well as Environmental Health Issues, Chronic Diseases, Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Preparedness, Bio-safety, and Injury Control and Prevention and incorporate the results of research into operational health promotion, disease prevention and control programs in Kenya and ensure the sharing of expertise and research findings with other nations, non-governmental agencies and academic institutions.
