Control of Material Properties through Advanced StructureS (COMPASS): DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals that explore the potential for demonstrating Control of Material Properties through Advanced StructureS (COMPASS). The COMPASS program seeks to leverage the advanced fabrication capabilities now available, coupled with design of material structure, to drive functional materials to high performance well beyond state-of-the art. This solicitation focuses on two technical areas of interest: thermoelectric materials for power generation at > 1000 K, and thermoelectric materials for cooling < 200 K) as well as advanced studies in other functional materials systems of potential DoD interest.
