Cooperative Agreement with American Hiking Society: American Hiking Society (AHS) originated and trademarked National Trails Day (NTD), which takes place the first Saturday in June each year. It is recognized by the FLMAs and the rest of the outdoor recreation community as the kick-off event for Great Outdoors Month activities each year. AHS is the NTD national organizer and serve as the central information point for NTD events. NTD events raise public awareness of and appreciation for all kinds of trails and trail activities. Partnerships of local trail clubs, businesses, and land managing agencies, plan and carry out local events.
