Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity appear below: Assistance will go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Peoples Republic of China. No other applications are solicited. The PRC/CDC is the only authorized public health Agency in China, and the only recipient that can fulfill the terms of this agreement because: The PRC/CDC is the only institution in China with the authority to conduct public-health surveillance and respond to health threats throughout China. Moreover, it possesses the requisite scientific and technical expertise, together with the appropriate service and administrative infrastructure. These combined attributes make the PRC/CDC uniquely qualified as the only organization in China capable of effectively conducting the research and public-health program activities proposed for this cooperative agreement.
Grant Description
The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement is to support the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of the Ministry of Health of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) in developing and improving their capacity and programs. Specifically, the purpose is to do the following:1. To strengthen the expertise of Chinese and U.S. health and medical scientists and professionals by supporting multiple Collaborative Programs with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS);2. To implement public-health programs and practice, including epidemiological-surveillance systems, laboratory diagnosis and response capacity for priority diseases and health conditions in the People's Republic of China;3. To provide training for students and public health professionals in basic and applied health science; public-health program planning; monitoring, implementation and evaluation; and other related areas, such as data-collection, financial planning and management;4. To Strengthen PRC/CDCs institutional capacity to conduct public health science, plan, implement and evaluate public-health programs, conduct disease surveillance, respond to disease outbreaks, and develop interventions as well as to support national and regional disease prevention, detection and control efforts;5. To conduct operational assessment and analysis on priority public health problems by incorporating the results of findings into disease-prevention and -control programs in the People's Republic of China, and by helping to advance the practice of public-health by ensuring the sharing of expertise and lessons learned with appropriate institutions nationally and internationally.
