Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Californian CESU: The Southwest Biological Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to one member of the Californian Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (CESU) Program. The goal of this project is to promote continued cooperation between the USGS and a Californian University in order to support applied decision methods research along the Colorado River in Arizona.

This project will improve the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program s ability to consider, organize and prioritize monitoring, research, and long-term management alternatives related to the operation of Glen Canyon Dam. The proposal shall demonstrate capacity in economic analysis and mathematical modelling necessary to develop applied decision methods applicable to Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program, including knowledge of economic theory and stochastic dynamic programming. Important elements of the university research roles will include assistance with development of a bioeconomic model to identify the economically preferred management strategy for established nonnative fish, in relation to humpback chub survival and application of analytical methods to identify the economic value of information related to Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program monitoring and research.
