Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Desert Southwest CESU: The US Geological Survey, USA National Phenology Network (USA-NPN), is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to understand how plants, animals and landscapes respond to environmental variation and climate change, and to develop tools and techniques to facilitate adaptation by humans and natural systems to climate change and environmental variation. The Network seeks to meet these goals through the prioritization of monitoring targets, development of data products and decision-support tools, design of information management systems, creation of partnerships, facilitation of research, and promotion of education and outreach activities. The USA-NPN serves not only as a data repository, but also as a hub of phenology-related activities for researchers, natural resource professionals, decision-makers, and the public. In this way, the USA-NPN aims to foster a phenology ¿community of practice,¿ facilitating increases in knowledge and understanding specific to phenology through participation, interaction, discourse, and the establishment of standards and best practices.
