Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Great Basin CESU: The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in the hydroclimatic history of south-central Alaska from the late Pleistocene to present utilizing sedimentological, geochemical, and isotopic analyses of lake sediments. USGS personnel in the Geosciences and Environmental Change Science Center (GECSC) located in Denver, CO lead a project titled ¿Holocene Hydroclimate of Western North America.¿ Within this broad research effort, a number of projects on lake and wetland sediments in Alaska are designed to investigate past dynamics between climate, environment, and water resources from the Late Pleistocene to present using isotope proxies of environmental water, which are in need of additional technical support. This opportunity is in support of interactive and collaborative research involving interdisciplinary problem solving at multiple temporal and spatial scales by both USGS and CESU scientists. USGS GECSC researchers will work with CESU Partner to participate in field work, data analysis, interpretation and publishing, and training for undergraduate and graduate students.
