Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Great Lakes Northern Forests CESU: U.S. Geological Survey 's (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on Assessment and Synthesis of Riverine Habitat Restoration in the St. Clair - Detroit Rivers System. This research will provide insight about the efficacy of habitat restoration efforts in the connecting channel using innovative statistical and biological approaches to analyze and synthesize samples and long-term scientific monitoring data sets. These efforts will include quantifying the aquatic community composition, species succession, abundance, distribution, and trophic pathways (i.e. larval fish diets). These types of information are critical to identifying and understanding the ecological interactions within the SCDRS and western Lake Erie. Information gleaned from these studies will be used to guide management and restoration of fish populations and their habitats in the study areas.
