Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Rocky Mountain CESU: The US Geological Survey, Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY-MT WSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to provide the sequencing and analysis of DNA extracted from sediment-associated biofilm samples collected from 15 sites along the Clark Fork (western Montana). This work is being done in support of a USGS funded project on the investigation of microbial biofilms as biomarkers of metal toxicity. Specifically, previously amplified PCR amplicons of the 16S rRNA gene will be barcoded and subjected to multiplex sequencing using the Illumina Miseq sequencing platform.
