Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, South Florida/Caribbean CESU: The USGS Southeast Ecological Science Center, Davie, Florida, is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to model habitat use of threatened and endangered sea turtles. The sea turtle spatial dataset is comprised of satellite- and GPS tag-derived locations in the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic, and Caribbean. Initial data analyses have shown high-use areas for adult female Kemp¿s ridleys, loggerheads, and green turtles. Habitat features such as depth and distance to shore have been ranked as key factors in habitat selection; however, determining other key environmental drivers of habitat selection is a research need.
