Grant Description
The US Geological Survey (USGS), National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center (NCCWSC), is offering a funding opportunity for research to develop new strategies for the global assessment of inland fisheries and predicting the response of inland fisheries to regional climate change. The objective of this Agreement is to facilitate collaboration on the development and incorporation of new approaches to remotely sensing inland fisheries production and develop strategies to incorporate climate projections into predictions of future changes. The project has the following specific goals: Develop tools to narrow existing knowledge gaps on the status and key drivers of inland fisheries. Provide models that provide potentially less biased estimates of fish production as well as some key variables that could predict fish production. Develop global models that can be applied to areas of the world where remotely sensed drivers of fish productivity can be estimated, but unbiased estimates of fisheries harvest or production have been unavailable.
