DOD FY04 Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) Idea Develpment Award (IDA): The intent of the Idea Development Award is to encourage innovative approaches to prostate cancer research from established prostate cancer investigators and established investigators in other fields who want to move into prostate cancer research. Proposals are sought across all areas of laboratory, clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological research, including clinical trials. Innovation is a significant feature of the Idea Development Award. Research that is innovative may represent a new paradigm, challenge existing paradigms, or look at existing problems from new perspectives. As a guideline to applicants and reviewers, proposals may be innovative in a variety of ways, including the following: ? Study concept ? investigation of a novel idea and/or unique research question. ? Research method or technology ? use of novel research methods or new technologies to address a research question. ? Clinical interventions ? use of a novel method or technology for preventing, diagnosing, or treating prostate cancer. ? Adaptations of existing methods or technologies ? application or adaptation of existing methods or technologies for research or clinical purposes that are fundamentally different from those originally intended, and/or for use under novel research or clinical purposes. This list is not all-inclusive, but is intended to serve as a foundation on which to frame and present the innovative features of the proposal.
