Department of Defense (DOD) Fiscal Year 2005 (FY05) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) Predoctoral Traineeship Award (PREDOC): The United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) invites applications for funding for the FY05 Predoctoral Traineeship Award (PREDOC). The Predoctoral Traineeship Award prepares promising graduate students with a strong commitment to breast cancer research for successful and competitive careers. This award promotes creative approaches to training breast cancer investigators. Successful trainees will be selected for their talent, potential, and commitment to breast cancer research; the mentors qualifications and experience in breast cancer research; the strong breast cancer research training program at the trainees institution; the innovative research environment; and the institutions commitment to training future leaders in breast cancer research. The proposed training must focus on breast cancer research. Approximately $ 4M is available to fund FY05 BCRP Predoctoral Traineeship Award under this announcement. Depending on the number and quality of the applications, it is anticipated that 44 proposals will be funded. Funding for Predoctoral Traineeship Award can be requested for up to $30,000 per year, inclusive of direct and indirect costs, for a maximum of $90,000 over 3 years. Estimated timelines for the FY05 Predoctoral Traineeship Award (PREDOC) proposals are as follows: Letter of Intent Expected by April 26, 2005; Full Proposal Submission Deadline: May 24, 2005, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Electronic submission is required. Proposals will be accepted only as PDF files submitted through the CDMRP eReceipt system.
