Develop Water Requirements for Specific Crops, Orchard and Forages in Support of the Caribbean Area Field Office Technical Guides: The recipient will be responsible for the validation and/or development of ETC single crop coefficient (KC) and: 1. identifying the crop growth stages, determining their lengths, and determining corresponding KC coefficients; 2. obtain climatic data (radiation, wind velocity, temperature, precipitation, humidity) for the Caribbean Area Major Land Resource Areas. (See map and definitions at this web site: http://www.pr.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/soil_survey/prmptxt.htm) 3. protocol on adjusting the selected KC coefficients for frequency of wetting or climatic conditions during stage; 4. constructing the crop coefficient curve; and 5. calculating ETC as the product of ET0 and KC for the following crops, orchards and forages: Crop Bananas 12m, Bananas 1-12m, Bananas 13-14m, Beans (dry), Cabbage, Cassava, Coriander, Corn (grain), Corn (silage), Corn (sweet), Cucumber, Eggplant, Flower (annual cut), Flower (bulbs), Grass (hay), Lettuce, Watermelons, Okra, Onion (dry), Papaya, Peas, Peppers (green), Plantains 12m, Plantains-12m, Plantains 13-14m, Potatoes, Pumpkin, Sod (grass), Sorghum, Soybeans, Squash, Sugarcane, Sweet potato, Tannier, Tomatoes (seeded), Tomatoes (transp.), Vegetables (small), Yams Orchard Avocadoes, Citrus, Guava, Mango Forage Improved Pasture: Stargrass, Pangola grass, Buffel grass, Merker grass, Signal grass, Bluestem grass Ornamental Trees Spices Parameters to consider 1. Weather affecting evapotranspiration: radiation, air temperature, humidity and wind speed. 2. Crop factors: crop type, variety and development stage. 3. Management and environmental conditions: factors such as soil salinity, soil fertility, soil compaction, poor control of pests, ground cover, plant density, soil water content, cultivation practice and irrigation method.
